Regularly Scheduled School Board meetings are the third Monday of every month at 6:00 pm unless a holiday falls on this date, and then the second Monday of the month will be utilized.
Parents or guardians of a student at Calvary Christian Academy, may address the school board during a regularly scheduled, Open Meetings. The time allotted to speak will be 3 minutes. If you have questions, or would like to speak during Regularly Scheduled Open Board Meetings, please contact Jeremy Higgins, School Board President, or Terese Jurgensen, Director.
Board minutes are posted in the front office of Calvary Christian Academy within 5 calendar days after the meeting.
Calvary Christian Academy (2025/2026) board policies will be reviewed monthly. The first readings and review will be completed within the first school calendar year. Legislation will be added to board policy as needed for a non-public, private school.
Director Terese Jurgensen, is responsible for the management of the Academy. Faculty and staff report directly to Mrs. Jurgensen. Mrs. Jurgensen works directly with the Iowa Department of Education, and completes all accreditation information within the Department’s portal, working directly with employees from the Department on behalf of C.C.A.
Teachers will be evaluated according to the Iowa Department of Education Teaching Standards, and Mrs. Jurgensen will conduct these evaluations as well as support teachers as a mentor or assign another teacher to that role. She ensures that all employee licensing and credentials are kept up to date, plans the curriculum review cycle, and heads the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and all systems within the academy. When a student disciplinary matter or a parent complaint cannot be resolved by the teacher, Mrs. Jurgensen will become a partner in finding solutions for the issue.
The Board is responsible for setting the spiritual and educational vision for the school, and translating that vision into goals and objectives. The board sets the school budget, tuition rates, allocates resources for projects, determines staff compensation and benefits, and approves all faculty hirings or releases regarding personnel that are recommended by Terese Jurgensen.
Board members do not resolve concerns about the director, teachers or staff at the Academy. The board member will direct all concerns back to the child’s teacher and/or Terese Jurgensen, Director.
Board members will serve on committees to support Calvary Christian Academy. Examples may be fundraising, marketing or parent involvement. These committees will be discussed and approved by the board.
