Joel Salow

4th Grade Teacher

Bio

My personal life is centered on my loving family and God. I am happily married to Kim, and we have four children and three grandchildren. We enjoy spending time with the grandchildren and playing games together, which keeps us close and active. We attend Faith Bible Church in Cedar Rapids where I have been involved in the children’s ministry.

I graduated from the University of Dubuque with a degree in Elementary Education in 1991. For 33 years, I taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I have also coached basketball, football, and track. I am a Huddle Coach for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where I combine my love of sports with my faith, supporting athletes in their spiritual and athletic growth.

Outside of teaching, I love the outdoors. Most of my free time is spent with my wife taking care of our chickens, bees, orchard, and large garden. I also enjoy bicycling, hunting with my dog and more recently, I have developed a love for pickle ball.

My faith guides me, and I live by the words of Matthew 5:16:

Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

I strive to be a positive influence and live with kindness and integrity.
