Essential Responsibilities
- Classroom Leadership and excellent classroom management skills
- Provide a caring, safe, structured, respectful, and nurturing Christian classroom environment
- Foster academic growth, spiritual development, and Christlike character in students
- Manage classroom routines, discipline, displays, materials, and cleanliness
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, hallways, and other assigned duties
Instruction & Assessment
- Prepare daily lesson plans aligned with standards and approved curriculum
- Deliver engaging, age-appropriate instruction from a Biblical perspective
- Use assessment data to guide instruction and provide interventions
- Maintain accurate academic and behavioral records for each student
Student Support
- Recognize and respond to student strengths and areas of need
- Advocate for students with a “students first” mindset
- Communicate regularly with families regarding progress, concerns, and celebrations
School Community
- Partner closely and communicate consistently with parents in the education of their child
- Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, administrators, and community
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning, conferences and school events
- Champion the mission of Calvary Christian Academy
- Contribute to the academy’s accreditation efforts
Education Requirements
Iowa Teaching License Elementary education preferred. (Four year college degree or a master's degree may qualify for employment.)
Early childhood or elementary experience.
Experience in Christian education and ABEKA Curriculum is a plus.

Maximum of 20 students per classroom, allowing teachers to truly know and disciple their students.
Tuition Waiver for Teachers’ Children
After application of Iowa Education Savings Accounts, tuition is waived for all children of academy teachers. Estimated teacher contribution is only approximately $1,500 per child for the coming year.
Free Childcare Benefit
Through our adjoining church ministry, teachers receive free childcare for one child per family (ages 6 months–5 years).
Flexible Paid Time Off
Nine days per school year for personal or sick leave to use at your discretion. Up to three unused days may roll over into the following year.
Generous Holiday Schedule
Paid holidays, an extended Christmas Break, a long Spring Break, and school dismisses the Friday before Memorial Day.
